Ghaziabad, Jul 14 (PTI) A money lender was killed and his relative injured when two bicycle attackers opened fire on them in Ukhlarsi village of Muradnagar on Wednesday, police, financier Rishi Chowdhary said. and her relative Sumit were seated at their residence when the incident occurred.
Chowdhury also worked as a goods dealer and had loaned money to several people in the area. SSP Amit Pathak told reporters that at first glance it appears to be a monetary dispute.
The two victims were rushed to a private hospital where doctors said Chaudhary “brought dead”.
Sumit was injured in the jaw when the bullet pierced his mouth. He is in critical condition and the police were unable to take his statement.
The two attackers were apparently known to the financier, police said. Police are investigating the case from different angles, SSP Pathak said.
Meanwhile, Sahibabad police arrested four thieves near the Katori mill market in Mohan Nagar trisection.
They had stolen a car and other valuables as well as ATM cards and documents from a lawyer 12 days ago.
Police recovered four domestically produced pistols and looted items in their possession, SPCity (second) Gyanendra Singh told reporters.
Those arrested were identified as Yusuf, Shakib, Siddhartha and Riasat, all from Ghaziabad.
During questioning, they told police that after detailed reconnaissance, they used to choose their target. On June 2, they chased a car on two motorcycles from Gaur Chowk from Gautam Budh Nagar District, Noida Extension.
When the car arrived near the Jal Nigam Police Outpost of Vijay Nagar Police Station, they attacked the driver. They then pushed the victim out of the moving car and drove off.
